Kupper Engineering provided electrical engineering services to design the interconnection of a combined 1.75 MW solar array and battery storage project on the campus of Chesapeake College. The system was connected to the existing campus to provide back up power in the event of a Delmarva Power & Light outage. Kupper also provided system integration services for a cloud-based SCADA system to fit into the existing emergency management system architecture. The SCADA system consolidated the existing (and future) battery storage, solar, electric meter, and grid isolation assets to one main SCADA system for database historian and real time control processing with the ability to expand the system for other new assets. Kupper configured templates for each of the different types of assets, and provided a multi-tier model to aggregate and disaggregate the different tiers and device types in a select number of operational modes. Additionally, Kupper provided the SCADA system hardware, software, programming and commissioning.
