It was determined that the existing glycol cooler tower was installed in such a way that it could not be shut down for maintenance without a complete outage to the DC cooling. This regional medical center requested that KEI provide the design for a redundant cooling tower dedicated to the glycol cooling loop serving the existing data center, thus allowing for maintenance shut downs and operational redundancy of the cooling tower. KEI performed mechanical and electrical design, as well as construction administration services. These included: Documents detailing the tie in to existing controls, details for the electrical power connection to the new cooling towner, specifications on drawings, 100% construction documents, and three (3) sets of signed and sealed documents for bid and permit. KEI also reviewed contractor shop drawings, answered contractor RFIs, and provided a final punch upon project completion. This project also involved structural design services which were performed by a trusted KEI sub-contractor.
