Arc Flash Hazard Analysis

Short Circuit and Coordination Study with Arc Flash Hazard Analysis for a National Video and Ecommerce Retailer

We provided a short circuit study review and update of the entire electrical distribution system, including incoming utility service, primary switchgear, transformers, emergency generators, and all associated 480V and 208V distribution. Our team performed a review and update of the protective device coordination study of the electrical system and associated feeders to the nearest downstream overcurrent protective device past any adjustable settings.  A review and update of the arc flash hazard analysis was also conducted and protective devices were checked for miscoordination from an arc flash perspective, and coordinated to trip the closest upstream circuit breaker to the fault.

Technology Company Short Circuit and Coordination Study with Arc Flash Hazard Analysis

We provided a short circuit and coordination study with an arc flash hazard analysis study for a technology company’s campus. The site included the following:

  • Building 1: 80,000 square feet, (4) floors
  • Building 2: 60,000 square feet, (3) floors
  • Building 3: 60,000 square feet, (3) floors
  • Building 4: 80,000 square feet, (4) floors (data center included)

The study identified the arc flash categories based on existing settings. The arc flash hazard analysis established the flash protection boundary, hazard category, and proper PPE (personal protective equipment) class of clothing if working on a live bus.  We provided one (1) set of arc flash hazard labeling of equipment.  Labels for all 480V and 208V switchboards, panels, and motor control centers were included.
